Diesel dips a little; some areas still short

The average price of diesel fell slightly on Wednesday, Oct.26, according to AAA. The auto club, which surveys 85,000 self-service stations across the country, reported an average of $3.210 per gallon, down less than a penny from the day before.

Amazingly, prices in Florida appear to be unaffected by Hurricane Wilma. The Web site FloridaStateGasPrices.com reported a high of $3.37 per gallon in the state, while AAA reported an average of $3.235.

That may seem high, but it’s not as high as the record in that state, recorded by AAA as $3.359 Oct. 10.

Meanwhile, truck stops were reporting few, if any, difficulties related to Wilma.

Flying J was reporting low supplies at some stations in Arkansas , Missouri , Mississippi , Nebraska and Texas .

Travel Centers of America reported that it was dispensing diesel at its location in Vero Beach , FL , but on a cash-only basis.

Also, TA was still distributing red-dyed diesel at stations in Georgia , Texas and Louisiana .
