Truck manufacturer Freightliner will not be required to release information about the quality of its Mexican manufacturing plant to an Alabama customer, the state’s Supreme Court ruled Friday, Oct. 22.
According to The Associated Press, the court overturned a previous $1.2 million jury verdict awarded to Whatley Contract Carriers, saying Freightliner – a division of auto maker DaimlerChrysler – did not suppress information about quality problems in the plant, and was not required to release information to the plaintiff.
Whatley, which has since gone out of business, contested that Freightliner concealed issues with the plant that may have contributed to problems with 40 trucks purchased by Whatley, The AP said.
