A surprise inspection checkpoint in Southern California earlier this week took 37 trucks off the road.
Monday, Oct. 10, and Tuesday, Oct. 11, California Highway Patrol officers inspected more than 100 commercial vehicles on Highway 50 near Meyers, CA, the Tahoe Daily Tribune reported.
CHP Officer Ragnar Schubert told the Daily Tribune that the effort – which noted 354 violations but only issued 143 citations – was aimed at both education and enforcement.
“We’re looking for more of a compliance than being a hammer,” Ragnar said.
