This year’s OOIDA Refer and Win competition helped add more than 1,000 new members to the association’s ranks.

The annual competition – which awards prizes to four members who help convince the most people to join OOIDA – was monumentally successful this year. Hundreds of members actively competed to make it into the top echelon.

The grand-prize winner of this year’s contest was James Randall of Claremont, MN. Randall will receive a $5,000 travel voucher toward a cruise or vacation package.

Randall told Land Line that he has supported OOIDA since 1973, and has promoting the association to other truckers ever since.

“It’s the only organization out there sticking up for truckers’ rights,” Randall said. “I think that there’s gotta be somebody out here sticking up for us, and OOIDA seems to be the people who are doing it.”

Second place went to Paul “Brooklyn” Sasso of Edgewater, FL. For his efforts, Sasso will receive a Gateway M210E laptop computer.

The third-place winner was Doug Dittus of Plain City, OH. Fourth place was a tie, with Bill Dobson of Los Lunas, NM, and Victor Jones of Kansas City, MO, bringing in an equal number of members. All three of these members will receive custom-made OOIDA leather bomber jackets.
