Nasko Nazov, the Illinois-based trucker whose wreck killed a Tennessee family in 2004, has been sentenced to 10 months in prison for lying to a federal grand jury about how he obtained his commercial driver’s license.
In June, Nazov pleaded guilty of one count of lying to a federal grand jury, admitting to falsely claiming to have lived in Wisconsin when he applied for his CDL. He was actually living in suburban Chicago when he obtained the CDL, The Associated Press reported.
In addition to the prison time, Nazov has also been sentenced to two years of supervised release. He still faces reckless homicide charges in Tennessee.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Nazov received his license in 2003. Roughly one year later, his truck hit a pickup and car on Interstate 81 near Baileyton, TN. The wreck killed Edward and Melissa Armstrong and their two children, Brittany and Edward.
