The average cost of diesel rose, though only slightly, for the week ending Oct. 10, according to the Department of Energy.
The national average cost of diesel came in at $3.15 per gallon for the week, up less than a penny from $3.144 the week before.

Some areas reported a drop in prices, with the biggest drop of 6.5 cents to $2.947 per gallon happening in New England. The Central Atlantic region dropped 5 cents to $2.99 per gallon, while the East Coast as a whole fell to $3.16 per gallon.
The Midwest posted one of the few increases, rising 4 cents to $3.123 per gallon. The Rocky Mountain region also jumped 6.4 cents to $3.143 per gallon.
The Gulf Coast saw a slight dip to $3.182 per gallon, while the West Coast came in at $3.167 per gallon.
Meanwhile, prices for light, sweet crude rose to $63.47 per barrel in late afternoon trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange on Oct. 11.
Business Week reported the increase occurred after the International Energy Agency released its forecast stating that demand would go up in November and that weather experts were predicting a colder than average winter.
