Diesel prices have set another record, according to AAA. The association reported a national average of $3.20 per gallon on Monday, Oct. 10, its highest recorded price to date.
The Washington, DC, area posted the highest prices, at $3.487 per gallon.
Numbers from the Department of Energy were not available on Monday because of the Columbus Day holiday.
Meanwhile, crude oil fell Oct. 10, as investors remained indecisive about the combination of continued low demand and the approaching winter season.
Light, sweet crude fell 74 cents in midday trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange to $61.10 per barrel.
The Associated Press reported that analysts said demand would continue to slip, at least until November when the demand for heating oil – which is made from the same distillate as diesel – begins to increase dramatically.
