Diesel prices rose again Wednesday, Oct. 5, though some areas reported minor decreases.
ProMiles reported a national average of $3.147 per gallon Wednesday. That’s up less than a penny from the day before.
California, usually the highest, was surpassed by several other areas. Alabama reported an average of $3.375 per gallon, while Florida reported a high of $3.412 per gallon. California was $3.292.
Meanwhile, crude oil fell to $63.76 in midday trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange, after reaching a high of above $64 per barrel.
The earlier high was blamed on a reaction to government data that showed a drop in U.S. crude oil and gasoline supplies.
The U.S. Department of Energy said that inventories of crude oil fell to 305.4 million barrels in the last week of September. Though that represented a 300,000-barrel drop from the previous week, it’s still 12 percent higher than levels from a year ago.
