Another truck driver is suing a Tacoma , WA , trucking company, claiming it discriminated against him because of his weight.

On Tuesday, Nov. 29, David Mankey – a 5-foot, 6-inch, 450-pound trucker from Gresham , OR – filed a $1.1 million suit against Interstate Distributor Co., alleging that the company unfairly suspended him because he is obese.

Mankey is the second obese trucker in less than two months to take issue with the company. On Oct. 5, a jury awarded more than $100,000 to John McDuffy, a 6-foot, 550-pound former employee who was suspended indefinitely by Interstate because he could not operate his truck due to his size.

According to The Oregonian, Mankey claims he was switched to a smaller truck and complained to his supervisors about a too-tight seat belt, and was immediately suspended without pay.
