The national average price for diesel fell again for the week ending
Nov. 28, marking the fifth week in a row of declines following record highs in
October.
According to the Energy Information Administration, the national
average fell 3.4 cents for the week to $2.479 per gallon. Despite that drop,
the price is still more than 36 cents higher than it was during the same week
in 2004.
The highest prices were found in the
New England
region, which topped out at an average of $2.619 per gallon, down 3.3 cents
from the week before. The Central Atlantic wasn’t far behind at $2.604 per
gallon, while the Lower Atlantic region came in at $2.394 per gallon – the
lowest in the
U.S.
The East Coast region as a whole posted an average of $2.491 per gallon.
The biggest drop happened in the
Rocky
Mountain
region, where prices fell 6.3 cents to $2.617 per gallon.
California
saw an average of $2.559 per gallon, while the rest of the West Coast came in
at $2.617 per gallon.
The Midwest had an average of $2.442 per gallon, and the
Gulf
Coast
posted an average of $2.456 per gallon.
