Police release photos of second truck sought in Sioux Falls hit and run

Sioux Falls , SD , police released photos of a second truck they are now looking for in connection with a hit and run that occurred at a Pilot truck stop in Sioux Falls Nov. 9.

A 55-year-old man, Gregory Zuba, of Erie , PA , was apparently run over by a large truck near the diesel pumps at the station. No one witnessed the incident, but police say evidence suggests that it was a tractor-trailer truck.

While police were initially only looking for a yellow tractor pulling a flatbed trailer, the main focus of the investigation shifted because of video captured by the in-car camera on one of the police department’s squad cars.

This is catalog photo of a Freightliner fleet truck that may be similar to the one police are looking for. Police are searching for either a 1997 or newer Freightliner Century or a 2001 or newer Freightliner Columbia.
The other shot is a photo taken from a police cruiser's on-board camera of the truck in question as it was leaving the scene. Police don't know if the truck was connected to the accident or not, but they would like to speak with the driver all the same.

Public Information Officer Loren McManus told “Land Line Now” police are now also looking for either a 1997 or newer Freightliner Century or a 2001 or newer Freightliner Columbia in addition to the yellow truck. The white truck has a mid-roof-style sleeper cab and is white with a single exhaust stack. McManus said it could possibly be “a fleet-type or retired fleet-type vehicle.”

“We don’t know for sure what, if any, involvement this vehicle has, but we are looking for the vehicle as well as the driver,” he said.

McManus said the white truck was not pulling a trailer at the time of the accident.

Anyone with any information on either the white truck or the yellow truck is asked to call the Sioux Falls Police Department at (605) 367-7212.
