New truck description released in South Dakota hit and run

Police in Sioux Falls , SD , are focusing on a different truck in the case of a trucker who died when he was run over at a Pilot truck stop there.

The victim, 55-year-old Gregory Zuba of Erie , PA , was apparently run over by a large truck near the diesel pumps at the station Nov. 9. No one witnessed the incident, but police say evidence suggests it was a tractor-trailer.

While police were initially looking for a yellow tractor pulling a flatbed trailer, the focus has shifted, now, thanks to video captured by the in-car camera on one of the department’s squad cars.

Public information officer Loren McManus told “Land Line Now” the vehicle police are now looking for is either a 1997 or newer Freightliner Century or a 2001 or newer Freightliner Columbia. The vehicle has a mid-roof-style sleeper cab and is white with a single exhaust stack. McManus said it could possibly be “a fleet-type or retired fleet-type vehicle.”

“We don’t know for sure what, if any, involvement this vehicle has, but we are looking for the vehicle as well as the driver,” he said.

McManus said the white truck was not pulling a trailer at the time of the accident.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Sioux Falls police department at (605) 367-7212.
