Trucker killed in truck stop hit and run

A Pennsylvania truck driver was killed in an incident at a Pilot truck stop near Sioux Falls , SD , Wednesday, Nov. 9. Police are calling it a hit-and-run.

According to news reports, the driver, 55-year-old Gregory Zuba of Erie , PA , was apparently run over by a large truck near the diesel pumps at the station. No one witnessed the incident, but police say evidence suggests that it was a tractor-trailer truck.

Authorities say its possible the driver of the truck may not have even known the accident happened.

Loren McManus, public information officer for the Sioux Falls Police Department, told “Land Line Now” police are currently treating the scene as a crime scene.

“We treat all of these types of incidents as crime scenes until we can have the opportunity to go through and look at all of the evidence and determine one way or the other if we have a crash or if we have something that’s more suspicious,” he said.

McManus said the department would like to speak with the driver of a yellow tractor that is pulling a flatbed trailer. It was seen leaving the truck stop at about the time the incident occurred. Police aren’t certain that this vehicle was involved but would like to speak with the driver anyway.

Anyone with any information should call the Sioux Falls police department at (605) 367-7212.
