Veterans Day travelers brought traffic near Snoqualmie Pass in Washington to a crawl the late afternoon Thursday, Nov. 10, just four days after a massive rockslide closed Interstate 90 and forced officials to reroute traffic to two adjacent lanes.
Between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, the increased traffic, combined with drivers slowing down to take pictures, caused major traffic slowing through the 35 mph work zone, according to the Washington Department of Transportation.
Traffic has since tapered off, and is expected to remain steady throughout the weekend.
According to WSDOT, work is going slowly but steadily on the hillside. Construction crews continue to scale the rock slope to find cracks and loose rocks that can be removed to increase safety on the road below.
