Trucker missing in Dallas area; family, friends suspect foul play

An Indiana trucking company and family are searching for a truck driver who has been missing for more than a week.

Scott Glover of Auburn , IN , was last seen at the Pilot Truck Stop on Interstate 20, Exit 470 in Dallas , Nov. 1. Glover had stopped to fuel, rest and buy his daughter’s birthday present for a party he never made it to.

Cynthia Noble with Cary Farms, the company Glover drives for, said it is completely out of character for Glover to miss his daughter’s birthday.

“I just can’t imagine him missing that party,” she said. “We made special arrangements for him to make it home and everything. He’s very serious about his kids.”

The night of Oct. 30, Glover called his ex-wife to find out what porcelain doll his daughter wanted for her birthday.

“It was a very specific doll,” Noble said. “And he was going to get it at the truck stop where he was last seen.”

Noble said when they first tried to file a missing person report, the Dallas County, TX, and Steuben County , IN , police departments kept sending their calls to the other agency.

“Nobody wanted to take the report,” she said. “We finally filed it with Steuben County .”

Cary Farms and Glover’s family have been hitting roadblocks with the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, Noble said.

“They told me … he’ll turn up in a week or so,” she said.

Noble and Glover’s family haven’t waited around for the police; they’ve created a flier and called Dallas-area truck stops hunting for Glover.

“We had a truck stop manager call and tell us that they saw his truck without the trailer, but Scott wasn’t driving it,” she said. “The manager told me that the black man driving the truck was a well-known drug dealer in the area and there was a well-known prostitute in the truck with him.”

When Noble reported the sighting to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, she was told that the lead could not be pursued because there was no proof Glover was not in the truck with the other people.

Cary Farms left Glover’s cell phone on, but turned off the fuel card that was used after Glover disappeared. Noble also said that Glover’s ATM card has been used since his disappearance.

Calls to Glover’s cell phone are answered by another man, Noble said. The man says there’s “no one there” by the name of Scott Glover. Sometimes, Noble said, he says it is the wrong number.

Noble said members of Glover’s family are in the Dallas area visiting truck stops and searching for him, the truck, the trailer – anything.

“We honestly suspect foul play,” Noble said. “This is just not like Scott at all. We’re really worried.”

Calls to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Offices from Land Line were not returned as of press time.
