Owner-operators needed for upcoming television series

Is your ride in bad need of a new look? Is a friend or family member running an old truck that begs to be spiffed up? A Los Angeles-based production company wants owner-operators for an upcoming television series titled “Trick My Truck,” airing later this year nationwide on a major cable television network.

Producer Phil Ash said if you are chosen, their expert design team can “turn your run-down ride into the truck of your dreams.” Ash said applicants and select family members must be from Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri or Kansas and be willing to travel to southern Missouri to deliver the truck and participate on camera in the television show.

Here’s what it takes:

  • Shoot a 5-to-10 minute video of yourself and your truck. They want to see your truck, hear your story about your life on the road, your family and especially your truck. Be sure to include close family members or significant others in the video, as they will want to use them in the show. These videos should be shot on mini digital video if possible.
  • You need to own a truck model that is a 1990 or newer: Peterbilt, 379 with extended hood or 387; Freightliner Classic XL; International model 9900ix; Western Star model LoMax; Kenworth W900L or T2000; or something similar.
  • Be willing to part with your ride for approximately two months. Varuna Films Inc. will provide loaner trucks for operators to drive in the meantime.
  • E-mail hr@varunastudios.com to let them know your submissions are on the way.

The film company urges family members to jump in and submit an application on behalf of the trucker in your family.

“We are looking for guys that need some help,” Ash said, “and will make for a heart-warming story in the end.”

Send all submissions on or before June 15 to:
