A truck driver in Florida was killed Monday, May 30, when his tanker truck ran off an exit ramp and caught fire.
Authorities believe Ronald Sinkfield, 50, of Orlando, FL, died around 6 p.m., after his tanker truck hauling diesel oil crashed through the guardrail of an exit ramp and rolled down a steep embankment, The Orlando Sentinel reported.
The accident occurred in East Orange County, FL, at the intersection of State Road 417 and the Bee Line Expressway.
Sinkfield’s rig – which had a payload of about 9,000 gallons of fuel, caught fire and burned for about an hour, officials said. The exit ramp was closed the following day for repair and for further inspection.
The accident is still under investigation, but authorities told WKMG-TV they believe the truck was traveling too fast and lost control on the exit ramp.
