Surprise inspections in Nebraska take 62 trucks off the road

A day of surprise truck inspections in Nebraska has taken 62 commercial vehicles off the road.

On Thursday, May 27, the Nebraska State Patrol, with help from the Omaha Police Department, did 108 inspections on trucks that don’t normally travel outside the city, WOWT-TV reported.

Inspectors found 371 violations in the trucks, including one vehicle operating on dyed, untaxed farm-grade diesel fuel; two drivers for operating under suspended licenses; two drivers operating without commercial driver’s licenses; and two drivers with outstanding warrants, according to KETV-TV. One driver was also arrested for failing to register as a sex offender.

According to news reports, more than $6,600 in fines were given in the day-long operation.
