FAST update planned for MATS

Do you truck in or out of Canada? Truckers are invited to attend a seminar on March 31 at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, KY, to learn about a program that can make their jobs easier and faster.

Canada Immigration, Canada Customs and U.S. Customs have teamed together for a panel session that will provide truckers with an update on the Free And Secure Trade, referred to as FAST,program along with information about driver waivers/Minister’s Permits for entering Canada.

FAST is designed to move pre-approved eligible goods across the Canada-U.S. border quickly with the verification of trade compliance taking place away from the border. It is described by officials as a harmonized commercial process available to pre-approved importers, carriers and registered drivers. Shipments for approved companies, transported by approved carriers using registered drivers will be cleared into either country with greater speed. Many companies are now seeking FASTregistered drivers and refusing to hire those that are not registered.

The seminar is planned for Thursday, March 31, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. in Room 101 at the Kentucky Fair and Expo Center. You can also visit Booth No. 573 and register on site.
