Bill would expand use of HOT lanes in California

The California General Assembly is considering a bill that would expand the use of high-occupancy toll lanes in the southern part of the state.

AB189, introduced by Assemblywoman Shirley Horton, R-Chula Vista, would allow the San Diego Association of Governments – which has state authorization to operate two such projects – to add a third set of so-called HOT lanes in the San Diego region.

The bill is currently in the Assembly Transportation Committee.
