Although Congress has not yet enacted legislation to establish a registry of certified medical examiners, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration says it is seeking to provide a general introduction to the registry concept.
FMCSA has scheduled a public meeting on June 22 in the Washington, DC, area to discuss development and implementation of a national registry. The plan is for medical examiners on the list to be trained and certified by FMCSA or a third party as being knowledgeable about the federal driver physical qualification standards. The meeting is set for 9 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at the Crystal City Marriott, 1999 Jefferson Davis Highway, Arlington, VA, 22202.
