'America's Most Wanted' generates 53 tips in Texas slaying

An episode of “America’s Most Wanted” that aired this past weekend has turned up more than 50 tips for a trucker wanted in connection with the slaying of a prostitute in Texas.

Avery Mann, spokesman for the television show, said 53 tips have come in since the show aired on Saturday, June 4. The nationally syndicated show featured the case of Casey Jo Pipestem, a prostitute from Oklahoma City whose body was found beaten, raped and strangled in January 2004 in Grapevine, TX.

According to Detective Larry Hallmark of the Grapevine Police Department, no description of the suspect or his truck has been given. However, the case has striking similarities to the killings of several prostitutes throughout the lower Midwest, including Taddemika McHenry, a prostitute whose body was found near Hydro, OK.

“There are obviously some similarities,” said Detective Larry Hallmark of the Grapevine Police Department. “So far, no formal connection between the two has been made.”

According to a release by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, the suspect in the McHenry case is a trucker who officials believe is still in operation. He is described as a black male, 25 to 35 years old, 5 feet 7 inches tall, approximately 120 pounds, with a medium complexion, a cleft in his chin and both upper front teeth capped in gold.

The suspect’s rig is a banana-yellow truck. Previously, OSBI described a decal of the Tasmanian Devil, a Warner Bros. cartoon character, on the side of the vehicle in two different locations – under the sleeper, and on the side of the hood. The latest word from the bureau is that this decal may have been removed. Police accounts said the truck’s stack, grill and tanks are chrome.
