Illinois, which is already considering one bill that would promote the use of biodiesel, now has a second measure under consideration in the Senate.
The measure, SB119, would require every diesel vehicle owned by any government in Illinois – state, county or local – to use a blend of fuel that is at least 50 percent biodiesel. A measure introduced earlier in the state’s House of Representatives, HB112, would require the same thing.
The Senate bill, introduced by Sen. John Cullerton, D-Chicago, is now before the upper chamber’s Transportation Committee. The House bill, introduced by state Rep. Sara Feigenholtz, D-Chicago, has been assigned to the House Environment and Energy Committee.
