Contract Freighters Inc., an international truckload carrier based in Joplin, MO, announced it will begin compensating drivers based on Rand McNally Practical Route Miles rather than the industry-standard Short Route Miles.

The effective date is Dec. 1, 2005, and CFI says it will pay both company drivers and owner-operators based on practical miles, an effort to more closely match paid miles with those miles that are actually driven. This change will be equivalent to a 3.5 percent increasefor CFI’s drivers
