US Airways, which is currently undergoing bankruptcy proceedings, has received a generous fuel tax break from North Carolina.
The state’s General Assembly recently approved a measure that would cap the fuel taxes the airline would pay at $2.5 million, according to The Associated Press.
US Airways had threatened to truck its fuel in from out of state if it didn’t get the tax break – a threat that lawmakers took seriously. US Airways has its largest hub at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport.
