A Seattle man who was upset about getting a $120 speeding ticket near Moorhead, MN, apparently decided he’d get even.
He showed up at the Clay County Courthouse with a small trashcan containing about 12,000 pennies, The Associated Press and local media reported.
But his plan for revenge backfired.
Instead of counting the pennies by hand, a judge told a court clerk to take them to a nearby bank where a change machine counted them. And the judge ordered the man to remain at the courthouse until the clerk returned.
When she did, she gave the man his receipt – and a few pennies in change. Seems his count had been just a little off.
The man was convicted in March of driving 70 mph in a 55 mph zone.
