Cox leaves House; Young takes Homeland Security Committee for now

Rep. Christopher Cox, R-CA, is stepping down from Congress – as well as his post as chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security – to become chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission.

During the August congressional recess, Rep. Don Young, R-AK, will serve as the acting chairman of the Homeland Security committee, according to the Republican Steering Committee.

It is unknown at this time who will become the permanent chair, but the Republican Steering Committee is scheduled to interview for the position in September.
