OOIDA members took home top honors in the fifth annual Paul K. Young Memorial Truck Beauty Championship, which took place April 2 at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, KY.

The Best of Show Bobtail award went to OOIDA members Charles and Carol Grimes of Sebree, KY, for their show-stopping 2000 purple Kenworth W900L, “Purple Passion.” In the Best of Show Combo category, OOIDA members Thomas and Kim Turner of Cynthiana, KY, took home the day’s biggest win with “El Dorado,” a1995 teakwood and beige Peterbilt 379 with a 2003 Transcraft step deck.

Two more OOIDA members, Rusty Wyrick and Tina Lomax of Mansfield, OH, won the Limited Mileage Bobtail category with their 1998 white muraled Western Star Constellation. And OOIDA members Bill and Marie Sandvik of Valley Center, CA, won the Limited Mileage Combo category with their 1998 white and blue muraled Peterbilt 379 and 1993 Ravens flatbed.

Owner-operator and trucking journalist Dave Sweetman, aka “Diesel Dave” of Dana Point, CA, once again handed out his Pick of the Litter award, which showcases the generosity and helpfulness of one very special driver. This year, the award went to OOIDA member Neal Holsomback of Resaca, GA.
