With 13 trophies between them, OOIDA members Todd Job, Harvey and Karen Zander and Rick and Sandy Hemchak led the award winners at the 15th Annual Waupun (WI) Truckers Jamboree in August.

Job was also overall Best of Show winner. He took a class win in Reefer – Combination, and Best Interior for sleepers 73 inches and smaller. He led the top three trophy winners for Best Engine, taking the top award among all entries. The Zanders came in second for Best Engine, followed by the Hemchaks, giving the trio of OOIDA members a sweep in the category.

The Zanders won Best Lights – Bobtail among newer trucks and Best Painted Murals – Bobtail. They also won the Mayor’s Trophy, awarded by Waupun Mayor Jodi Steger to the one truck she felt put the best face on the trucking industry. A strong believer in family values, Mayor Steger chose “Icy Blu 2” because of its murals depicting the Zander grandchildren in Minnesota winter scenes.

The Hemchaks earned a class second in Best Lights – Bobtail, a class second in Best Bobtail-1980 and older, and first in Custom Sleeper-73 inches and under. They also won a special trophy, given and selected by Smith Transport to their choice of the best bobtail with sleeper. The award honors the memory of long-time Waupun participant and veteran Smith driver Voyd Wilder.

Next year’s Jamboree will be Aug. 12 and 13, 2005. Other Waupun Jamboree winners included:
