An attack on a convoy in Iraq, near Fallujah, has claimed the life of one American soldier and injured two others.

The attack was Wednesday night, according to a U.S. military statement said. No further information was provided about the incident.

Three soldiers were wounded in the blast, but one later died of injuries at a military hospital in the capital, Baghdad, The Associated Press reported. The other two remain at the hospital. One is listed in serious condition and the other is stable.

The named of the dead soldier was withheld pending notification of the family.
