The New Jersey Turnpike is considering eliminating some discounts now received by car drivers who use E-ZPass on the highway, a spokesman for the agency that operates the road confirmed.
Under the plan, the discounts given to cars during rush hours and on weekends would be eliminated, local media outlets reported.
However, the spokesman, Joe Orlando, said that the plan would not affect trucks.
“Commercial trucks never had the discount,” he said. “They did not have a discount from the very beginning.”
Orlando said the Turnpike Authority had no plan to remove any discounts now received by truckers in the state.
