Celebrities, Trucker Buddies, drivers come out for first Tennessee Truck Show

The Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association and Land Line Magazine were among the supporters of the Tennessee Truck Show May 7-8 at the state fairgrounds in Nashville. The event was planned and hosted by Nashville recording artist and songwriter Joey Holiday and his wife Vicky, who say the show was such a success, they plan to do it again next year.

The weekend featured great food, prizes, an auction to benefit Trucker Buddy International, a truck beauty contest and topnotch music. Joey Holiday and his band shared the stage with Mustang Sally, Carl Knight, TC Bush, Clue of the Honkey Tones and the Lister Brothers. The master of ceremonies was XM Radio’s Dave Nemo. Red Simpson was a special performing guest. Simpson is best known for his trucking hits, "Roll Truck Roll" and "Hello, I'm a Truck.”

The show trucks were judged by the Trucker Buddy class of Jerry Collins, Cleveland, TN. The kids came in via a Humvee limousine, ready to hand out the awards they made themselves. The fifth-graders were from W. A. Bass Elementary School in Nashville. Their first place winner was OOIDA member Darian Stephens of Hereford, PA. Second place went to OOIDA members Bob and Shelley Brinker, Grayling, MI, and a third place star went to OOIDA members Tom and Mary Ann Quick of LaFollette, TN. Collins’ loyal kids gave him an award, too, naming him “Best of Show.”

Vicky Holiday reported to Land Line that the auction raised $4,075 for Trucker Buddy.
