Illinois Senate considers resolution on truck weight, size limits

The Illinois General Assembly is considering a resolution asking the U.S. Congress to keep the current limitations on the size and weight of trucks.

SR168 was introduced by Sen. George Shadid, D-Pekin, who chairs the Senate Transportation Committee. That panel approved the resolution by a vote of 10-0 March 31, which moves it to the full Senate.

A member of the upper chamber must still call for a vote on the resolution for it to be approved. The measure is a non-binding resolution, in essence a request from the Senate to federal officials; it does not have to be approved by the Illinois House, and it does not carry the force of law.
