The Environmental Protection Agency says it intends to meet with U.S. Rep. Mac Collins, R-GA, about his campaign to get tax breaks for truck companies to offset the cost for cleaner diesel engines.
An EPA spokesman told Land Line the talks would occur with EPA’s Jeffrey Holmstead, head of the agency’s air and radiation division, “as soon as they can be arranged.” While EPA doesn’t write tax policy, the agency is reportedly sensitive to Collins’ concerns.
Collins, of Jackson, GA, is a former trucking company owner and driver. He believes new low-pollution diesel engines add to trucking company expenses.
