New technology will soon help Minnesota provide drivers with really up-to-date road condition information, The St. Paul Pioneer Press reported recently.
The project, a joint effort between Ford Motor Co. and the Minnesota State Patrol, will involve attaching sensing equipment to patrol cars. The sensors will transmit information related to road conditions – such as whether the headlights or wipers are in use, or if the antilock brakes were used – as well as the road temperature and car’s location.
The equipment will be installed soon, the newspaper reported, and if successful, the experiment could be reproduced in other cities across the country.
