West Virginia police seek information on missing Arkansas trucker

The West Virginia State Police are still looking for a trucker reported missing earlier this week.

According to Trooper Jim Murphy of the West Virginia State Police, Shelly Garrett, 37, of Fort Smith, AR, was reported missing the morning of Monday, Feb. 23.

A driver for CFI out of Joplin, MO, Garrett was hauling a load of glass to Verona, VA, when she apparently disappeared.

She was last seen between 11 p.m. and midnight Saturday, Feb. 21, at a bar next to the TA Truckstop at Hurricane, WV. Hurricane sits on I-64 about halfway between Charleston and Huntington, WV.

Witnesses told police Garrett left the bar with a man who police assume is another trucker. That man is described as a white male, about 6 feet 2 inches tall with gray hair. He was wearing a black leather jacket, cowboy boots and jeans, as well as either a baseball or trucker’s cap and eyeglasses.

Her truck was found abandoned with its load at the truck stop.

Murphy said investigators do not suspect foul play at this point, and think Garrett may be with the man seen leaving the bar with her. However, police are still seeking information about her whereabouts.

Garrett is described as 5 feet 8 inches tall, 140 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. Anyone who has information on her whereabouts is encouraged to contact the West Virginia State Police at (304) 757-1101.
