Central Minnesota spring load restrictions in effect Monday

Winter axle load increases in Minnesota’s central frost zone will end this weekend at 12:01 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 29, the state’s department of transportation announced.

Spring load restrictions will go into effect in the area at 12:01 a.m. March 1. Winter load increases remain in effect for the north-central and north frost zones.

The central frost zone includes all the area between two boundaries:

  • On the north, a line following U.S. 10 from the North Dakota state line east to Motley, then following state Highway 210 east to Brainerd, picking up state Route 18 east to I-35, following I-35 south to state Route 48, and then following state Highway 48 east to the Wisconsin state line.
  • On the south, U.S. 12 from the South Dakota state line to the boundary of Hennepin County, which includes Minneapolis.
  • The north and north-central zones cover all of the state north of that area.

Complete information on the state’s seasonal load limits can be found at http://www.mrr.dot.state.mn.us/research/seasonal_load_limits/sllindex.asp.
