Missouri company cited for HOS violations and diesel dumping

A Cuba, MO, trucking company, its owner and an employee pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in St. Louis to charges of violating federal transportation and environmental laws, the Department of Transportation’s Office of the Inspector General reported.

David Voss, of Cuba, and his company, Voss Truck Port, pleaded guilty to instructing drivers to not record illegal trips on log books or record-of-duty status reports.

Voss and his company sold “unreformulated” gasoline at two Missouri gas stations that were required to use gasoline specially formulated to reduce emissions. The company also pleaded guilty to negligently discharging 10,000 gallon of fuel oil from diesel tanks into a creek.

Both Voss and his company are to be sentenced on Sept. 10. In addition, Voss employee Merry Robinson, also of Cuba, pleaded guilty June 7 to charges of conspiring to conceal the fact that drivers were exceeding their hours of service. Her sentencing is set for Sept. 3.
