The improving North American heavy-duty truck market has led Oregon-based Freightliner to add a third shift to its Cleveland, NC, plant, the company announced recently.

The shift will bring 593 new full-time jobs to the facility. The plant currently employs 3,000.

“We are experiencing strong demand across our Class 8 product line and especially in the over-the-road segment,” Rainer Schmueckle, president and CEO of Freightliner LLC, said in a statement.
