The national average U.S. retail price of diesel fuel increased slightly from a week ago from $1.744 to $1.754, the Department of Energy reported July 26.
Once again, the highest average prices in the nation are found in California, where the average cost is $2.107.
Among the higher average prices was the West Coast region, at $2.031; New England, at $1.836; the Central Atlantic, at $1.828; and the Rocky Mountain region, at $1.809.
Other prices included the East Coast, where the average price is $1.737; the Midwest, at $1.709; the Lower Atlantic region, at $1.689; and in the Gulf Coast, where the average price is $1.691.
