In the latest development in the ongoing investigations of fraudulent household goods movers, five employees of three Florida moving companies were sent to jail by a U.S. District Court judge in Fort Lauderdale for their part in conspiracies to extort money from their customers.
Three employees of All Points USA Relocation Systems of Pembroke Pines were taken into federal custody following their conviction and will be sentenced at a later date.
One employee of AAA Van Lines of Miami was sentenced to 30 months in jail, and one employee of Express Van Lines of Miami was sentenced to 46 months in jail. These last two employees will be fined later and released to immigration authorities for possible deportation to Israel following their prison term.
The investigations were conducted jointly by DOT's Office of the Inspector General and the FBI, with assistance from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
