A crash that involved a tanker truck will close a portion of Interstate 75 in Florida for as long as a month, The St. Petersburg Times reported recently.
The Florida Highway Patrol told the newspaper that the accident occurred at the Slough Canal Bridge, which sits at about mile marker 182 on the north side of the Sarasota area near the town of North Port, FL. The bridge is a short distance from where Sumter Boulevard crosses the highway.
The truck exploded during the impact, damaging the bridge.
Southbound drivers on I-75 will be routed to U.S. 41 during the closing, which covers about 12 miles of the interstate. Officials told the newspaper people should expect about an hour’s delay.
