Trucking owners and driver indicted for HOS violations

Robert and Rose Vyhnalek, joint owners of R.J. Vyhnalek Trucking of Wilber, NE, and Richard Crawford, a Vyhnalek driver, were indicted by a federal grand jury in Omaha, NE, for conspiracy and making false statements, DOT’s Office of the Inspector General reported.

The indictment charges that the Vyhnaleks and Crawford caused drivers’ logs to be altered and falsified in order to conceal violations of hours-of-service regulations from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.

Crawford allegedly listed himself as a co-driver on log books when other Vyhnalek drivers were operating alone, as well as falsifying road test certificates and substance abuse rehabilitation letters involving other drivers employed by the firm.
