HHG carrier sues city over nighttime truck ban

Gentle Giant, a household goods moving company, is in court fighting an ordinance in Cambridge, MA, that bans out-of-town trucks from the city between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m., The Cambridge Chronicle reported recently.

The trial is moving ahead now after a decision by Superior Court Judge Bonnie MacLeod that she would not dismiss the suit. Gentle Giant, which is based in Somerville, MA, contends the nighttime ban on trucks over 2.5 tons would harm its business.

The ban had already been suspended by the Massachusetts Highway Department, the newspaper said.
