TCA removes Hirsch

According to press reports, the Truckload Carriers Association has removed Robert Hirsch as the organization's president.

Hirsch and TCA, "mutually agreed today to separate due to a difference of opinion on managerial approach," TCA Chairman Clifton Parker said in an Oct. 20 statement. Parker is president of G&P Trucking Co. in Gaston, SC.

TCA, which has more than 450 motor-carrier members, reaffiliated with ATA in 2002. The carriers' group pays ATA an annual $100,000 fee to represent it on Capitol Hill, and has its headquarters at the ATA office in Alexandria, VA. There is a large overlap in the membership of the two groups.
