U.S. oil dependency will be the hot topic on '60 minutes' Sunday night

As the U.S. becomes more dependent on foreign oil, Detroit continues to satisfy the public’s demand for gas-guzzling SUVs, even though manufacturers can produce more fuel-efficient cars. News correspondentLesley Stahl reports this and more on CBS' “60 Minutes” this weekend.

Environmental Defense's John DeCicco, a leading auto expert in the environmental community, will appear in the segment and discuss the opportunities to re-engineer vehicles for higher efficiency, a practical, affordable step that could be taken now to reduce both oil dependence and greenhouse gases.

The program airs Sundays at 7 p.m. ET/PT. Check your local listings.
