Police still don’t know who shot a Wisconsin trucker Nov. 18 in the cab of his truck.
The body of Pat Zemke, 45, of Rib Mountain, WI, was found in his truck, which was parked on an Interstate 39 northbound exit ramp near Highway DB in Portage County, WI.
Zemke hauled window glass for Kolbe & Kolbe Millwork, according to the Marshfield News-Herald. He had worked there for 19 years. His shift ran from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., and he drove the Wausau-to-Tomah route twice each shift to pick up glass.
His wife, Anna, found his body between the bucket seats in the truck’s cab. She had gone looking for him when he failed to return home as expected. He had apparently stopped along the exit ramp to rest, as he often did, on a return trip to Wausau from Tomah sometime Tuesday morning.
Authorities say Zemke died from multiple gunshot wounds to the head and upper torso. According to a report by The Truckin’ Bozo, several rounds had been fired into the company truck’s cab door.
The Portage County Sheriff's Department told WSAW NewsChannel 7 they have taken a few calls about the incident and are conducting interviews. Investigators are asking anyone with information to call the Sheriff's Office at (715) 346-1400.
