With the increase of corrosion caused by magnesium chloride, Phillips Industries has introduced a product addressing the area of electrical systems protection.
Phillips’ QCP, or Quick Connect Plug assembly, is a fully sealed electrical cable assembly. The molded connectors block contaminants from entering the front and rear of the plug, which the company says will ensure corrosion-free electrical performance.
The company says the QCP assembly seals out contaminants and is designed to be easy to use and repair. It features a replaceable cartridge with floating brass pins that insert into a completely sealed cable. In addition, the assembly features machined brass pins that are designed to be durable and long lasting, and a nylon housing that the company says resists chemicals, fuels and contaminants.
The assembly is designed to eliminate the need to replace the plug or entire cable assembly. A new cartridge can be installed in around 30 seconds with the twist of one screw, Phillips said in a statement. Spare cartridges can be carried in the glove box.
“The QCP concept is similar to the idea of a razor and razorblade,” Greg Kinsey, engineering manager for Phillips, said. “Why throw away a functioning cable when the only part that needs to be replaced is the end? It is simply the best solution to the corrosion problem for trucking fleets.”
Phillips Industries, Santa Fe Springs, CA, designs, tools and molds wiring for the heavy-duty trucking and automotive industry. All of its wire harnesses meet QS 9000 specifications and can be made available for custom orders. For more information, visit www.phillipsind.com or call 1-800-423-4512.
