If you think the receiver was telling you off when they gave you the delivery address, you may want to think again.

For rural residents who live near Cody, WY, that kind of reaction is an everyday occurrence.

A number of those residents who live on County Road 6FU – including a church – have had to live with an address that looks like a nasty abbreviation since 1980, The Associated Press reported recently, and they want the name changed.

"The name of this road, with its obscene overtone, has really been a thorn for me," resident Terry Hinkle told the news service. "It is probably one of the most embarrassing road names the county has in the books. There is no other road in the United States, I can assure you, that has the road name FU."

Local officials said they are concerned a name change, especially if the new name sounds like other road names in the area, could confuse 911 dispatchers.
