Land Line wins media awards; Tankersley cops top honors for investigative reporting

Land Line Magazine was among the international automotive media elite recognized at the International Automotive Media Conference awards Nov. 18 in New York City. OOIDA's official business publication was awarded six medallions - one gold, three silver and two bronze awards.

The Gold Medallion of Excellence for the magazine investigative reporting division was awarded for "Trucker acquitted in fatal crash" by Feature Editor Rene Tankersley.

The Silver Medallion of Excellence for magazine travel writing was awarded for "Beware the Dragon" by Associate Editor Mark H. Reddig.

The Silver Medallion of Excellence for magazine coverage of environmental/regulatory issues was awarded for "Truck sales idle" by Senior Editor Dick Larsen. Technical Editor Paul Abelson received the Bronze Medallion of Excellence in this category for "Is the sky falling?"

The Silver Medallion of Excellence for the magazine general history category was awarded for "Ghosts of Nameplates Past" by contributing writer Tom Kelley.

The June 2003 issue of Land Line received the Bronze Medallion of Excellence for best writing in a single issue for magazines with more than 150,000 circulation.

One of the purposes of the IAMC is to recognize and encourage excellence in all forms of automotive media. The competition attracts entries from the nation's major newspapers, trucking publications and top international performers such as Motor Trend, Automobile Magazine, Cars & Parts, Car and Driver, Land Rover Journal and more.
